We believe there are three definitions of “The Forgotten Man”:
Our definition: We are the group that defines America; the majority in the middle that keep the country running. Ideals and principles are what bind us together, not race, religion, sexual preference, economic class or gender, but a set of beliefs that are rooted in the teachings of our Founders’ – Life, Liberty, Small Government, Belief in a Higher Power, Importance of Family and Hard Work. We feel that we are the largest group of Americans without representation in government, hence “The Forgotten Man”. It seems every group in this country has a lobbyist in Washington, except us. The truth of the matter is, our Congressmen and Senators are SUPPOSED to be our lobbyists and represent us, but currently they only represent themselves. The time is now for us to take action and remind our local, state and federal officials that we WILL NOT be forgotten!The original definition as defined by William Graham Sumner: “The type and formula of most schemes of philanthropy or humanitarianism is this: ‘A’ and ‘B’ put their heads together to decide what ‘C’ shall be made to do for ‘D.’ The radical vice of all these schemes, from a sociological point of view, is that ‘C’ is not allowed a voice in the matter, and his position, character, and interests, as well as the ultimate effects on society through ‘C’s’ interests, are entirely overlooked. I call ‘C’ The Forgotten Man.”
The third definition is crucial: There are also “The Forgotten MEN.” These are the great men that founded this country; Washington, Jefferson, Franklin, and Madison just to name a few. These men pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor so we could prosper in freedom! These men are slowly being marginalized. Today’s progressives continue to portray our Founder’s views as too antiquated and insignificant to be applied to today’s issues. Nothing could be further from the truth. However, if we do not continue to teach their blueprint for freedom, our Republic will fail, and America will become unrecognizable.
Theforgottenman.Org is a tool that we have designed to help spread the words of our Founders to concerned citizens and future generations in order to prevent these great men from being completely forgotten. We hope that through our efforts, such as The 5000 Year Leap scholarship program; we will make a difference. The preservation of the Republic requires that our Founders do not become Forgotten Men!
